Is therapy right for me?
Therapy is right for anyone that is looking to make a change in their life. Therapy can help you acknowledge issues of the past, motivate you to address current challenges of depression, anxiety, conflict, grief, and stress management or empower you toward taking responsibility, improving self-awareness, and creating an amazing future.
Here’s the thing…
We all need support and encouragement at some point in our life. Therapy is whatever you want it to be. Some people want to express their feelings, others want to listen, some want to cry while others want to be challenged. Whatever you need, I am here to support you on your journey
What are your fees for service?
In general, psychotherapy rates differ depending on the therapists education and experience. My current rate for counselling is $150 per hour for psychotherapy sessions. Other services such as coaching, seniors care and social work supervision have variable rates depending on services requested. Fees are due at the time of our session. We are currently accepting payment through e-transfer due to COVID-19 restrictions.
What is therapy like?
Here’s the thing
The connection is everything. You need to feel comfortable with your therapist. You will be better equipped to share your thoughts and feelings if you find a therapist that you “connect” with.
Therapy is what you make it. I am easy-going, caring, compassionate and genuinely love what I do. I am passionate about helping others overcome their struggles and live their lives to the fullest.
I have an eclectic therapeutic approach and combine elements of Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, solution-based therapy, strength-based therapy, and motivational techniques.
Do you offer a sliding scale for service?
Unfortunately, due to the high demand for my services I do not offer a sliding scale fee. If you do require a reduced rate or special fee arrangement, please let me know and I would be happy to refer you to another colleague who may be able to assist you.
Are your fees covered by OHIP?
Psychotherapy and Social Workers are regulated health professions in Ontario however they are not currently covered by OHIP. Fortunately many extended health benefit/employer benefit programs do provide some coverage for the cost of these services. Please refer to your benefit booklet, contact your human resources department, or call your provider directly to discuss coverage prior to beginning counselling.
Students attending College or University may also have coverage through their student benefit plans.
As of 2012, psychotherapy and social work services are now recognized as an income tax deductible medical expense by Revenue Canada. You will be provided with a receipt that can be used as a medical expense on your personal income taxes for the year.
What is your Cancellation Policy?
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance of your session. We all know that emergencies do happen. Please contact us as soon as possible and we will work with you to reschedule your appointment as soon as possible. An appointment that is missed, cancelled, or rescheduled with less than 24 hrs notice will be charged a full session rate. All fees must be paid in full prior to booking your next appointment.
Are your services confidential?
Confidentiality is essential within a counselling relationship. It is important that you feel comfortable in openly sharing your thoughts and feelings. The Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers clearly states that all information that you share with me will not be communicated, directly, or indirectly with anyone without your informed and written consent. However, there are some exceptions to this rule. We will discuss these exceptions in detail prior to our therapy sessions.
How do I engage in counselling during COVID-19?
COVID-19 has changed many aspects of our lives. Many clients are struggling with issues of isolation, loss, stress, and uncertainty. Counselling is currently being offered over the telephone or through other venues such as Facetime or Zoom. Once it is safe to do so, I will continue to offer these options however I will also be offering face to face sessions in my private Cambridge, Ontario office.
